Your Child’s First Visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child visit the dentist six months after their first tooth erupts or no later than one year of age.
We firmly believe in the importance of establishing a good oral hygiene regimen early in a child’s life. We will provide you and your child with the necessary knowledge and treatment to maintain a healthy smile.
The first visit will include an examination, cleaning, and fluoride application. X-rays will be taken as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and as behavior allows. The initial appointment helps educate parents on proper cleaning methods.
We will provide an evaluation that will outline your child’s specific dental needs. Treatment options and an estimate of the costs will be provided at the end of the appointment. Generally, restorative treatment will not be provided on the first visit.
After a thorough evaluation, we can provide referrals to other specialists such as Orthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Periodontists, and Endodontists. Our goal is to make sure your child has access to comprehensive dental care by coordinating treatment with other specialists.
This visit is an opportunity for you and your child to become familiar with our office, our staff, and our methods. We strive to make sure your child is comfortable and develops a healthy and positive relationship with us over the many years to come so he or she will want to develop good dental habits.
Our office makes every effort to see your child on time. In order to expedite your child’s appointment, we request you arrive at your appointment on time. Your scheduled appointment time has been reserved specifically for you.
Please notify us at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment if you need to cancel your appointment. We are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment. Another patient who needs our care could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to notify them. You will be charged a fee if you do not show up for an appointment without sufficient notice. Multiple cancellations and/or broken appointments will result in dismissal from our office.
In order to maintain the cleanliness of our office, no food or beverages are allowed in the office.
For your child’s safety, shoes and appropriate clothing must be worn at all times in the office.
In order to maintain the privacy of our patients, families, and staff, no photos or videos are allowed in the office.
